Preparing Your Body For Birth Naturally

It doesn’t matter who you are, if this is your first or fiftieth (hopefully not quite that many), giving birth to a child is an exhausting ordeal! Here are some natural ways you can help prepare your body for that joyous day 🙂

Trimester 1

This is the time when omega-3 fatty acids should be included in your diet. While you can take these in the form of a supplement, it would be healthier to eat things that included these acids naturally. Oily fish is a good way to incorporate fatty acids in your diet. They will speed up the development of the neurological and visual systems in the baby.

Start taking long walks in this trimester.

Trimester 2

Green and orange foods, including fruits and vegetables, are necessary in this trimester. Since delivering a baby might lead to tearing, it would be a good idea to work on making your skin easily stretchable and elastic. These foods will help make that happen. You can enjoy them in the form of smoothies, if you like.

In this trimester, couple your walks with side lunges and squats for increased pelvic flexibility.

Trimester 3

Eating dates during this time will help you dilate more in a short amount of time, which could make your labor shorter! Have a handful of them daily. At around 30 weeks, supplement your diet with a tablespoon of cod liver oil once every day for faster and better neurological development of your baby.

When you have arrived at 37 weeks, it is a good idea to help increase your pelvic muscle flexibility even more. This can be done by application of coconut oil to the vaginal opening and then stretching it from side to side.

These are just some of the things I did when I was pregnant with my children. I hope these tips help you through this tough, and magical, time in your life.
